Doug currently lives and works in Brooklyn Heights. He is now a happily married father of three, an active P.S. 8 parent and a girl scout dad. Doug understands the importance of parent involvement in a child's life both at the home and in the class room. The faculty at P.S. 8 have done a wonderful job in doing this with publishing parties, special events and enrichment programs. When the kids aren't at school, Doug loves nothing more than taking them ice skating at Prospect Park's wonderful outdoor Wollman Rink, to one our treasured museums, our great neighborhood playgrounds or swimming at the beach.
Doug's a fourth generation Brooklynite.
Born in Brooklyn, he attended P.S. 207 and P.S. 143, and spent most of his life here, growing up on the jetties at Breezy Point and fishing at Sheepshead Bay. His father, a carpenter and member of Local 32BJ and NYC Transit Union, moved to the Ex Lax building in Boerum hill in the early 80's then to Remsen Street in Brookly Heights. Doug spent much of his teen years through college in these neighborhoods with his father, developing his love for historic downtown Brooklyn. His fondest memories are the after dinner strolls with his dad and sister along the Promenade down to Fulton Ferry Landing or to Fulton Street Mall.
Doug's mother grew up in Carroll Gardens and Cobble hill. She cared for the elderly and his grandmother, a registered nurse, worked for years at Brooklyn's Holy Family Hospital. As a young child, Doug remembers picking up his grandmother late at night on weekends at the Holy Family Hospital and the long drive downtown.
